Safes, equipment and utility locks

Safes

Locked out of your own safe

Justin works on select models — call with the brand and roughly how old it is and he'll tell you honestly whether it's one he can handle.

Opening

Combination forgotten, dial spinning free, or a safe that came with the house and nobody knows what's inside. Opened as non-destructively as the model allows.

Repair

Sticky dials, worn wheels, doors that won't relock. Often fixable rather than a reason to buy a new safe.

Combinations set

New combination on a safe you already own — worth doing on anything second-hand, or after anyone who knew the old one has moved on.

Worth asking about

Tired of spinning the dial? Convert it to a keypad.

On many safes the dial can be swapped for a digital keypad — same safe, same door, no more counting clicks in the dark or explaining the sequence to somebody over the phone. Ask Justin whether yours is a candidate.

Dial → keypad

Available on select models. Send a photo of the front of your safe and he'll tell you yes or no before anyone drives out.

Utility & equipment

Keys for the things that aren't cars or doors

Out here that's half the locks people own. A replacement key may be possible without the original, depending on the lock.

Tractors & ATVsIgnition keys for equipment that's been sitting since the last key went missing.
Padlocks & gatesNew keys cut, or a set of padlocks keyed alike so one key opens every gate on the place.
Toolboxes & trailersTruck boxes, job boxes, trailer locks — the ones that always come with exactly one key.
Antique furnitureDesks, cabinets, chests and rolltops where the key disappeared a generation ago.

If it takes a key and it isn't on this list, call Justin to describe it. Justin can check whether it is a job he can handle before you make arrangements.

What it costs

Photo first, price second, drive third

This work varies more than any of the rest — a padlock key and a jammed safe door aren't remotely the same job. A photo and the make or model help Justin assess the options. Some jobs need an inspection before a firm quote. You can save by bringing suitable work to Justin. Call first to confirm what can be brought in and arrange a meeting or drop-off; there is no walk-in shop.

Send a photo, get a straight answer — including “that one I can't do,” which saves you both a trip.
Safes are quoted individually by brand and model, because no two are the same job.
Confirm the arrangement. There is no walk-in shop; agree on any meeting or drop-off in advance.

Safe and equipment key questions

Can you help if I forgot my safe combination?

Justin offers opening and combination service on select safe models. Share the brand, model if known and a photo of the front to check whether he can handle yours. Be prepared to show proof of ownership.

Can a safe be opened without damage?

That depends on the safe, its lock and the fault. Some jobs require drilling or repairs. Ask Justin to explain the proposed approach and costs before work starts.

Can you make a tractor or ATV key without the original?

For supported equipment, a replacement may be possible from the lock without an original key. Send the make, model and a photo of the ignition or lock so Justin can check.

Can several padlocks use one key?

Compatible padlocks can often be keyed alike. Some can also be keyed to work with your house key for convenience. Describe the locks and house key or send photos so Justin can check compatibility.

Can you make a key for antique furniture?

Justin handles utility locks including antique furniture. Send a photo of the lock and the piece so he can discuss feasibility and any risk to the furniture before work begins.

Do you come out, or do I bring the item to you?

You can save by bringing suitable items to Justin rather than arranging a mobile visit. It depends on the item and the work needed. The business is mobile with no walk-in shop, so call first to confirm any meeting or drop-off arrangement.

Got something locked with no key for it?

Send Justin a photo. Worst case he tells you it's not one he can do — and that costs you nothing.
